Er wordt tegenwoordig naar schatting zowaar bij vier op de vijf chirurgische ingrepen een of andere vorm van radiofrequentie-energie gebruikt. Sommige van de meest veelbelovende nieuwe toepassingen zijn gebaseerd op het principe van thermocoagulatie, waarbij hitte wordt gebruikt om weefsel te vernietigen, maar zoals zo vaak dekt dit lang niet de hele lading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-fcs-core-spacer u-padding-xxs-lg u-padding-xs\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Zo kan de zinsnede &#8220;warmte wordt gebruikt om weefsel te vernietigen&#8221; ook van toepassing zijn op elektrocauterisatie, maar er zijn een aantal belangrijke verschillen tussen de twee procedures. Bij elektrocauterisatie wordt de gegenereerde energie gebruikt om een metaaldraad te verhitten, die de gebruiker vervolgens rechtstreeks tegen het weefsel aan houdt, wat schade veroorzaakt die vergelijkbaar is met een derdegraadsbrandwond. Bij radiofrequentieablatie daarentegen blijft de elektrode koel, omdat de hitte die voor de thermocoagulatie wordt gebruikt, in het weefsel zelf wordt opgewekt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-fcs-core-spacer u-padding-xs-lg\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoe werkt dat? <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fcaresystems.com\/nl\/producten\/generatoren\/\">Monopolaire RF-generatoren<\/a><\/mark> cre\u00ebren een gesloten stroomkring: van de generator naar het lichaam van de pati\u00ebnt en dan via de elektrochirurgische plaat (indien gebruikt) naar de generator. Deze elektrische stroom is pijnloos voor de pati\u00ebnt, omdat de frequentie te hoog is om depolarisatie van zenuwmembranen te veroorzaken, zodat de zenuwen geen signaal afgeven. De hoogfrequente stroom brengt de ionen in het weefsel in beweging doordat ze proberen de richtingsveranderingen van de wisselstroom te volgen&nbsp;\u2013 die zo snel plaatsvinden dat de ionen gaan trillen zonder van hun plaats te komen. Deze trillingen genereren aanzienlijke wrijvingshitte in de onmiddellijke nabijheid van de elektrode, maar het effect neemt sterk af met de afstand: een <a href=\"https:\/\/fcaresystems.com\/nl\/producten\/verbruiksartikelen\/rf-sondes\/\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">Rafaelo\u00ae-elektrode<\/mark> <\/a>van 2 mm heeft bijvoorbeeld een thermische straal van slechts 3 mm. Dit is een groot voordeel ten opzichte van elektrocauterisatie, waarbij de warmteverspreiding gewoonlijk een aanzienlijk groter bereik heeft (en dus een groter risico op onbedoelde weefselbeschadiging).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-fcs-core-spacer u-padding-lg-lg\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"is-style-doctor wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Minimaal invasief: <\/strong>geen incisie vereist, wat het risico op complicaties vermindert<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Beperkte thermische radius: <\/strong>het mechanisme voor warmteopwekking voorkomt schade aan het omliggende weefsel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gemakkelijk te regelen:<\/strong> stroom van 4 MHz heeft een voorspelbaar thermisch effect<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Snel<\/strong>: produceert temperaturen die een snelle celdood kunnen veroorzaken, dus veel ingrepen duren slechts enkele
